Staff Profile

Dr. Wendy Falloon
Wendy has been a member of the Hobart Anaesthetic Group since 1996, and also works on a sessional basis at the Royal Hobart Hospital. She was the Calvary hospital Medical Advisory Committee anaesthesia representative for 7 years, and is active in continuing professional development, fulfilling all the criteria of the college of anaesthetists. She was born in South Africa, but has lived in Australia since the age of 12. She completed her schooling and medical degree in Hobart. She decided to become an anaesthetist because she hated to see people in pain, and because she enjoyed being able to concentrate her whole attention on one patient at a time. Her anaesthetic training included 2 years in Hobart and 2 years in the UK. Her fellowship year was sub-specialty training in paediatric anaesthesia and paediatric ICU at the Royal Alexander Hospital for Children in Sydney, and she continues to have a particular interest in children's anaesthesia, but enjoys all aspects of her job. She is a careful and safe anaesthetist who enjoys talking to and reassuring patients, and making sure they are well informed about what their anaesthesia and surgery will entail.Outside of her professional life, Wendy is married and the mother of 3 children, and has a second job as a home manager! She tries to keep fit between all her other activities
