Danny is a University of Tasmania Medical School graduate who underwent 2 years of unaccredited anaesthesia training in the UK in Kent before moving back to Tasmania to commence formal Specialist Anaesthetic training with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2003. An exchange year allowed him to travel back to the UK to Somerset in 2005 to undertake training in ultrasound guided regional anaesthesia for nerve blocks with a world expert.
Upon returning to Tasmania, he completed his anaesthetic training at the Royal Hobart Hospital and commenced as a staff Specialist Anaesthetist in 2008. Danny commenced work with the Hobart Anaesthetic Group in 2012 while maintaining a full-time position at the RHH and has since transitioned to a mix of private and public work.
Danny’s interests though working at the states only tertiary referral hospital and in private include Endoscopy, Orthopaedic Surgery, Thoracic, Major General and Colorectal surgery, Regional Anaesthesia (ultrasound guided nerve blocks) as well as emergency cases.
During Danny’s public time he has held many roles including Anaesthetic head for Endoscopy, Emergency Theatres and training leads for Regional Anaesthesia and co lead for airway training. His teaching includes registrar and junior doctor and nurse teaching at the RHH as well as having been an instructor on many statewide and national Regional Anaesthesia and airway workshops over the last 16 years.
Home life is busy with 3 girls and a wife who works as a nurse. In his spare time, Danny is trying to improve his golf and enjoys travel with his family.
