Dr Katja Brede
Katja graduated from the Free University of Berlin, Germany in 1998 and started her clinical & research work at the Benjamin Franklin University Hospital of Berlin. She finished her PhD in intensive care medicine in 2000 and completed her anaesthetic training in 2002. After her Cardiothoracic fellowship at the German Heart Centre in Berlin she continued to work at the heart centre as a staff specialist until 2006.
Katja relocated to Tasmania in 2006 as a staff specialist at the RHH and joined the private sector in 2013. Her special interests are cardiac, thoracic and interventional cardiology anaesthesia, however she enjoys all aspects of anaesthesia and is a keen advocate for perioperative team work and understanding of patient individual needs
Outside of work, Katja enjoys her family, mountain-biking and the Tasmanian wilderness.
