Dr Michael Lumsden-Steel

Michael graduated from University of Tasmania Medical School in 2000, and since graduation has worked both in the public and private health system in Tasmania, as well as having served in the Royal Australian Air Force.
Michael completed 5 years of specialist anaesthetic training within the Tasmanian Health System in 2014 and attained his Fellowship in Anaesthetics with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in April 2014. Since then, Michael has worked in both Launceston and Hobart as a specialist anaesthetist before becoming an Associate with The Hobart Anaesthetic Group in October 2017
Michael is credentialed to work in all the private hospitals in Hobart, and has additional subspecialty interests including regional anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia, orthopaedic anaesthesia and trauma anaesthesia.
Michael is actively involved with the Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA) and is currently the chair of the ASA Economics Advisory Committee, and is the current President of the Tasmanian Branch of Australian Medical Association (commenced in May 2024).
Outside the profession, Dr Lumsden-Steel enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the outdoors, and the exploring in great detail the uncharted land at the local golf courses.
