Dr Peter Wright

Anaesthetist

Dr. Peter Wright is an anaesthetist working in Hobart. He shares his working week between a permanent position as a staff specialist at the Royal Hobart Hospital and private practice. His roles at the Royal Hobart Hospital have included anaesthetic lead in obstetric anaesthesia, quality and safety, radiology and Maxilofacial surgery. He is an associate in the Hobart Anaesthetic Group and has had a connection with the organisation since 2010.

Peter grew up on a sheep and cropping farm in central Victoria before moving to Melbourne to undertake his medical studies. His anaesthetic training has been undertaken in Melbourne - Australia; Dunedin - New Zealand, Oxford - The United Kingdom and Hobart - Tasmania, where he finally moved in 2007. His post fellowship studies have included a Bachelor of Arts in History and Classics at the University of London (2015), a Masters in Medicine at Monash University (2018) and a Masters of Science at The University of Edinburgh's (2024). Dr Wright was a founding member of the Chapter of Perioperative Medicine of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthesia (2024). 

His interests outside medicine include gardening, music and the study of history.
